Neurotrauma and Critical Care In the early days following injury to the brain or spinal cord, the primary emphasis should be placed on treating inital injury and preventing further injury. Dr. McKalip served as an Assistant Professor and Co-Director of the Brain and Spinal cord injury program at the University of California, San Francisco. He remains actively involved in international research efforts in brain and spinal cord injury.
